The basics

  • Who?
We need volunteers who are reliable, can show up regularly, use initiative, work hard, and have a hands on impact on the often very ill or injured native wildlife in our care. We request that applicants are able to commit to a minimum of 6-months.

  • What?
Volunteer shifts can be hard work and involve a mix of cleaning enclosures, laundry, preparing diets, assisting the vets with treatments, intake - and for those with more experience, crop feeding or providing fluids to patients.

  • When?
The hospital runs on a 7-day a week roster system. There are two shifts, morning(AM) which runs from 9am – 12noon, and afternoon/evening (PM) which runs from 4pm – 6pm. Depending on the time of year and number of patients, shifts lengths may vary.

  • Where?
We are based at 60 Hussey Road, Northwood. We share a car park with Willowbank and on the weekends it can get busy - there is additional parking down the far end.

  • Why?
Without the help of volunteers, our precious wildlife often wouldn’t get access to lifesaving treatment and care they need in order to be rehabilitated and released.
